Tsingtuo high-performance duplex stainless steel 2205 has achieved its first application in chemical tankers.

Recently, Tsingtuo Group Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Daekyung Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. jointly produced medium-thick plates of high-performance duplex stainless steel 2205, which was applied in the 11500DWT chemical tanker project by CSSC, marking a historic breakthrough for Tsingshan's duplex stainless steel products in the high-end chemical tanker sector.
The 11500DWT vessel, specifically tailored for CSSC maritime chemicals, measures approximately 119.9 meters in length, 20.8 meters in width, and 11.2 meters in depth, with a deadweight capacity of 11500 tons and the capacity to load and upload eight different types of chemicals. Its liquid cargo holds and slop tanks are designed with one-tank-one-pump, and the internal structure of the cargo holds is constructed from 2205 duplex stainless steel, which requires high surface quality and excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and welding performance. The domestic steel mills that are capable of supplying duplex stainless steel raw materials are few and far between.
Both Tsingtuo and Daekyung hold CCS certification from China classification society. With the efficient collaboration of its production, sales and research teams, they have successfully overcome the manufacturing technical challenges associated with the full-process production of 2205 duplex stainless steel thick plates for chemical tankers. The final products' surface roughness level is Ra≤3μm, pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) is greater than 35.0, yield strength is over 550MPa and they have outstanding welding performance. All batches of the 2205 medium-thick plates, produced by Tsingtuo and Daekyung, are conducted strict inspections by the CCS, ensuring the product quality can meet the requirements of CSSC and COSCO shipping. The quality of its products has been ranked among the advanced in domestic market. Based on this, Tsingtuo has successfully received orders for over 3000 tons of high-performance 2205 duplex stainless steel for chemical tankers, becoming a vital contributor to the "new quality productive forces" in China's chemical tanker industry.
In addition, Tsingtuo and Daekyung are also certified by many international classification societies, including BV, DNV, LR and ABS. The stainless steel products they produced have been used in many major engineering projects at home and abroad.
